Reflect - Profit

What are the leading indicators of success or early warning signals of problems for our business? How are we doing in regard to them?

Are we measuring what matters most for our strategic progress? Or are the reports only about what is easily or habitually measured?

How do current results compare to the same period a year ago? What are the reasons for significant differences?

How significantly do our results differ from our projections? Why are they different or what enabled us to forecast well?

Are these results surprising, considering the information and progress we observed leading up to this? If yes, why?

How do our results compare with those of other businesses in a similar industry?

How satisfied are we with:

  • our results?
  • our growth?
  • our profit?
  • our service to our community?
  • our adherence to our values?

How has cash flow impacted our growth plans?

What reaction or response have we seen from:

  • our staff?
  • our shareholders?
  • our customers?
  • our creditors?
  • our competitors or suppliers?
  • the public?

How have our risks changed since our original projections?

What assumptions did we make that may deserve reconsideration?

Are there cycles or trends that we assumed would correct themselves that we now see have not?

Given the results to date, what appear to be the key challenges our organization faces? How would I prioritize them considering their potential impact on the organization?

Would it have been helpful to get some outside experts to give us input or perspective when making our earlier plans? If yes, why and who?

Are we satisfied with management’s efforts? Why or why not?
