Strive! Chosen as Only Canadian Consulting Partner of Patrick Lencioni’s firm, The Table Group

STRIVE! has been chosen as the only Canadian consulting partner with Patrick Lencioni’s U.S. leadership consulting firm, The Table Group. STRIVE! a privately-owned, Guelph, Ontario-based company, provides board governance and leadership consulting and facilitation throughout Canada and the United States. They also have an office in Vermilion, Ohio.

Patrick Lencioni is the New York Times bestselling author of The Five Dysfunctions of a Team and five other leadership books. Lencioni and The Table Group pioneered a consulting approach that taps into the competitive advantage of building a strong team. Some of their current and past clients include: New York Life Insurance Company, AT&T Business Services, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, FedEx Freight, and VERITAS Software Corporation.

Four years ago, Jim Brown, one of Strive!’s founding consultants, contacted Lencioni to extend kudos on his first book, The Five Temptations of a CEO. The friendship blossomed as they discovered mutual interests, including writing. Brown’s first book, The Imperfect Board Member, for which Lencioni has written the forward, will be released this month.

“We liked what we saw in STRIVE! and believe their mission is in harmony with The Table Group. We’re pleased to name them as our Canadian affiliate as they carry on the critical work of equipping Canada’s business and non-profit leaders,” says Lencioni.

Strive! Senior Consultant, Mary Lynn McPherson, says The Table Group’s material is different than other team building activities because the training is incorporated into real planning sessions. As the client board of directors or management team develops its goals, STRIVE! helps the group identify team dysfunctions and ways to overcome them. McPherson says that a common struggle is not holding team members accountable to group performance standards.

“Team members rarely ask each other what happened when something goes wrong and there are few direct consequences if goals are not reached,” says McPherson. STRIVE! training fosters trust, constructive conflict, commitment, and common goals. These factors are the foundation for accountability and a strong team.

Consultants Jim Brown, Cathie Leimbach and Ralph Kikkert started STRIVE! over 10 years ago. The company specializes in governance and board development. Their work repertoire also includes strategic and business planning, performance management, and team building. Clients include: Lanxess, MDS Nordian, Maple Leaf Foods, Niagara Training and Adjustment Board, Canadian Agricultural Safety Association, College of Veterinarians of Ontario, Alberta Egg, Pathways Skills Development and the University of Guelph.
