Board Development and Coaching
Board development can be defined as workshops, reference materials, and exercises designed to enhance or assess the governance effectiveness of boards.
For instance, there are various governance models in use - for a variety of reasons some work well, and others don't. Sometimes structural issues, such as confusion over roles and responsibilities, impede progress; other times there aren't good processes in place (e.g. inattention to succession planning); and in some cases, the board just isn't working well together (or the board members just aren't working well together) - and that can impact the well-being of the whole organization.
(G.E.M.)STRIVE! helps board members fine tune their leadership approach to achieve clarity on the model that will work best for them, the respective roles and responsibilities of board and staff, and how to add value to the organization.
We share the seven disciplines of governance excellence with emphasis on the areas our clients are most concerned about developing. Board assessment tools are available to assist in prioritizing topics for optimal use of board workshop time.
STRIVE! offers
- Assessment for areas of board strength and weakness
- Design and refinement of a governance model that works for your organization
- Assistance in developing effective policies for your organization
- Definition of committees' roles to make them work
- More effective and efficient meetings for your board
